My Little Story with Rosacea
One fine day, without any warning, my skin decided to change overnight. I went from having dry skin, crying out for hydration, to red and sensitive skin that seemed to burn at the slightest stimulus. The diagnosis was clear: rosacea. My primary care doctor and my dermatologist were very clear: "The sooner you start treatment, the better.
I admit it was a shock for me to learn that I had to take medication for it, but I consider myself fortunate because, for now, I only have to apply topical medication. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and we'll see how it progresses. 😅
Thus began my pilgrimage through all the pharmacies I could find. The first few days were a torment; anything that touched my skin seemed to make things worse. But fortunately, many pharmacists took pity on me and gave me samples that helped me find products that not only I could tolerate but also made me feel really good.
I am aware of the headache it can be to find cosmetic products to treat and establish a skincare routine for rosacea-prone skin, so I want to share with you some of the products that have helped me, in the hope that they will help you too.
We're in this together! 🤗
Step 1: The Importance of Cleansing
The first step: Moisten the skin with Evian Spray Water.
At first, I couldn't even tolerate tap or shower water on my skin. I had already used this product before, but now it has become indispensable to the point that I buy it in pairs so I never run out. I use it as a substitute for regular water, and I love it because it doesn't irritate and has an excellent quality-price ratio. It's a breath of fresh air in spray form.

Cera Cleanser Cream to Foam de Biotherm
This cleanser has been a blessing that I had already been using before, and I’m currently finishing it up. It contains ceramides, probiotics, and niacinamide, which help strengthen the skin barrier. I really like it because it cleanses without drying out the skin and leaves it feeling comfortable. However, I later found a couple of other products that I also really like:
Skin Resist Velvet Cleanser de Cantabria
This cleanser from Cantabria Labs is my favorite and the next one I'll purchase. Right now, I'm using a sample, and I mainly use it to remove makeup. Its velvety texture is a true treat for the skin. You can really feel that it cleanses gently. It's formulated with Aquammunist®, a technology based on thermal water and diatom algae that provides gentle yet effective cleansing, respecting and restoring the skin barrier. It's like a gentle hug every time I use it.
Bioderma Sensibio Gel Moussant
For everyday use and before bed, I use this extra gentle gel from Bioderma. It creates very little lather and doesn’t leave your skin feeling tight at all; you can really notice the difference compared to stronger cleansers. Additionally, it’s suitable for both face and eyes, which I love.
Sensibio Eye Cleanser from Bioderma
With rosacea also came blepharitis, which made my cleansing routine even more complicated. Now I use two eye cleansers, and this is my first step: Bioderma's Sensibio, which removes makeup without irritation, and Naviblef's foam cleanser, specifically for sensitive eyes prone to blepharitis (you can find this one in pharmacies). It's a combination that works perfectly, leaving my eyes clean and free of irritation. Now I have to do a double cleanse on my eyes! 🙈

Step 2: Hydration is My Necessary Pampering
Sensibio AR Cream de Bioderma
When I tried Sensibio AR Cream for the first time, it was like a sigh of relief. This anti-redness cream not only reduces and prevents redness but also provides hydration without leaving a greasy feeling. It contains Rosactiv™ patent, which works biologically to inhibit vasodilation and soothe the skin. It's my little daily miracle. The first time I tried it was in sample form, and the pharmacist told me it was really incredible. I have to admit that at first, I was skeptical because I had already tried a thousand creams. As soon as I tried it, I felt immediate relief, and it has become my go-to day cream. I've tried more expensive ones, and I don't like them as much as this one. In fact, it was because of this product that I fell in love with Bioderma's rosacea line, which is why so many appear on this list.
Uriage Moisturizing Cream
For colder days, Uriage cream is my ally. Its texture is denser but not greasy, and it provides deep hydration that my skin especially appreciates in winter. Additionally, it reinforces the skin barrier and soothes the skin thanks to its high content of thermal water and Cerasterol-2F. It's like a warm blanket that protects and nourishes my skin.

Step 3: Sun Protection is Always Essential
AR BB Cream Sensibio de Bioderma
Although finding a tinted sunscreen that I like has been difficult, Bioderma’s AR BB Cream has been a great discovery. With SPF 30, it evens out the skin tone and leaves a velvety matte finish. I apply it right after the moisturizer so it blends better with my skin. It's my ideal daily foundation.
Isdin FotoUltra Redness
Without a doubt, my favorite sunscreen. With SPF 50 and a slight yellow undertone, it blends perfectly with my skin and leaves a natural glow finish. It contains niacinamide, azelaic acid, glycine, and probiotics, which are a real arsenal for calming rosacea. It's like wearing a layer of comfort and protection all day long. It's the sunscreen I use every day and under my makeup.
Bariésun Crema Mineral SPF50+ de Uriage
I have a love-hate relationship with this sunscreen, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. What I don't like is that it leaves your face very white, but no sunray can penetrate it, and its high protection is worth it. It's a bit difficult to remove, so every time I use it, I have to do a double cleanse. It's super water-resistant, which is great for the beach but not for the shower. On the other hand, it has a light yet dense texture that's a bit hard to explain. It doesn't dry out the skin but doesn't make it greasy either, so it has a perfect balance. Of course, it's 100% mineral and also contains vitamins C and E.
